Nursery
Once the clams are about 1 millimeter, we move them outside onto raw water.
We use submersible pumps to bring water on land to feed the clams. The clams are contained in fiber glass tanks / raceways and filter the raw bay water for food. The now filtered water returns back into the bay cleaner than in came in and the clams are full of food.
We clean, grade wash, and protect the baby clams in the nursery until they are big enough to plant in the bay.
